Lycans are any semi intelligent creature that has contracted the disease known as Lycanthropy. It is contagious via bodily fluids including blood and saliva. With that having been said, it’s not highly contagious under mundane circumstances hence why it is rare. It’s common for those whom contact it to only get a fever for a few days and then they recover totally with their bodies having rejected the ailment. Lycans are very powerful physically as they have hightened senses, strength, speed, and stamina. On the downside, their innate rage renders them totally incapable of using magic, even the calmest Lycan can’t use it. It’s not too uncommon for them to be mindless beasts though some retain the capacity to speak, reason, and follow pack formations. They are powerful foes and a wolf should not fight one alone.

It'll be alright, Aelin. A sharp mind and the capacity for magic, and team work brings them down every time. Then there's the fact I am their natural enemy but that's another topic entirely.

As everyone gathers round Moonsong seriously debates whether she should go closer or just stay where she was. The second option won out as she uses her hind legs to push herself closer to the group dragging snow. She is not getting up.

Alright everyone! I gathered us here because some one has sent a minion into our lands and set them after MoonSong. This is unacceptable! I will not stand idle while you all are in danger, and so I must take my leave. I will be engaging in war with these bastards and they will rue the day they let evil enter their heart. I understand some of you may wish to come along, if I feel you are up to the task and won't hinder our operations or have your life needlessly at risk. I reserve the right to decline your offer of aid. Depending on how things pan out, I will likely elect some one to take charge while I am gone, I expect them to be treated with the same respect you treat me. I try not to be overly firm with you all so please do as I say this time, I am looking out for your best interests. This is not the first time I've gone off to war so take comfort in knowing this is what I am good at. This is what I am for. Are there any questions?

At the end of Ursus' speech, Moonsongs eyes flashed with something unknown, and she stands from her snow pile. "I am going," she firmly states. Her stance not in the lax carefree Moonsong they've always known, but tall and ready. Like an Alpha.
