Torn Faces

Ursus stares off into the distance as his already deep voice's tone drops to the depths of the grave. "Artemis. What I have done is give you another chance. Nothing more. If there is something dark in your heart it is up to you to contend with it, and your friends can help along the way. What you need is smiles. Laughs. Serenity. A home. There's a darkness in most of us Artemis. What you do with it, is what makes you, you. I use it to keep my friends safe. I sit by crystals and hum and sing songs of comfort so my rage doesn't explode out from within where it belongs. If you ever need help coping. Come find me."

MoonSong walks over and gives him a playful nudge. "I do want you to keep where that necklace I gave you. It's supposed to help keep corruption away, not to mention it's a gift."

Artemis nods to Moonsong before turning to Ursus, “I imagine that will take a while, thank you again.” He gives a slight bow before walking into Sirhaan’s den. She turns to look at him as he walks away, “Felan, why didn’t you kill him? I know you always hated him.” Felan looks rather hurt at the question, “I did it for you. I care about you more than my hatred of him.” He replied plainly before turning and walking away.

Sirhaan looks around a bit before laying down for a while. Thinking about everything that has happened.

Artemis wakes up fairly early, careful not to wake up the sleeping Sirhaan. He walks out and nudges Felan. He wakes up and sleepily asks, “Hm, oh its you, do you need something?” Artemis nods, “Follow me.” Before walking into a nearby clearing. It was still partially dark outside, the light of the sun just barely visible. Artemis turns to him, Felan notices hes holding the necklace. He growls lowly, “What the hell are you doing with that?”

He tries to alert anyone but reading their minds, hoping someone would notice. Sirhaan definitely does and wakes up with a jolt. Walking outside she spots them and watches from the darkness of the trees.

Artemis chuckles lowly, “Can’t you tell? Have you forgotten?” He sighs, “Such a shame. Your friend died to save me. Tsk, such a waste. You know you should’ve killed me.”

Felan, teeth bared, growling, his tail lashing furiously. “Don’t try anything mutt. You’re supposed to be almost rid of the evil that took you.”

Artemis laughs again, “You really think I can be cured? Pathetic. Ill admit, I felt much better initially, until it all flooded back. Granted, I’m not nearly as changed as I was, but I have the same feelings.”

Felan stands over him, “What’re you gonna do? Try killing us? Do it. See where it gets you.”

Unfazed Artemis shrugs, “Actually I had another plan in mind.”

It was so sudden, it hit Sirhaan like a bullet out of a hunters gun, how did she know that feeling? It didn’t matter. What mattered was that she saw what was about to happen. Without thinking she screamed “No!” And leaped from the bushes. Catching the necklace on her own neck instead of Felans.

In a flash Artemis had picked up the necklace and had thrown it, lined up perfectly to land right on Felan’s neck. When he heard the scream he turned just in time to see Sirhaan leap in front of it and catch it.

She landed with a thump on the ground. The necklace shined in the small bit of sun that was visible. At first she felt nothing, it felt like any other piece of jewelry. Then it started. A tingling that spread up and down her small body. She shivered as his fused into her neck. She slowly made her way onto her wobbling feet looking at the two.

Artemis growled, “You mutt! Look what you’ve done!” He calmed himself, “Well. This is not going to plan.”

Felan lunged at Artemis, they both fought while Sirhaan stood there, her eyes staring blankly as her vision blurred and warped. She tasted blood that wasn’t there. Her legs quivering under her. Her eyes and ears unknowing of the fight or the outside world.
