Attempted Reconciliation

Ursüs stands boldy before them. (From here on our in this thread we will assume if something is said, Ursüs has repeated it to Aelin unless stated otherwise).

“I come here to inform you that I am no longer with the White River Pack and to confirm your suspicions that they are indeed weak. Not the individuals whom many are my friends, but their leader Droplet. Do not go causing problems for them, they will not be expanding north-eastward, ever. I also come to inform you that I have my own pack now, as does my friend Mai. I have taken up residence, we will say faaaar north of these lands and she in the desert a days travel away. Do not let me find scouts in my land or hers. With that said. You appear fewer in number. And I don’t see Merduke. What has happened?”

It is at this time a very masculine but lighter toned (in comparison to Ursüs) voice chimes in. “They are dead. I would rather not have to say this in front of your mate but here we go. He plotted, tricked and manipulated, leaving notes behind that we thought to have been from Maria, speaking of organizing attacks to overthrow. To use you. Too late did we discover this, my son. I am sorry.”

Hel chimes back in. “That is why I said you were going to be better off. I may not see eye to eye with you but you are still my son. I know no matter what I say it won’t fix things but there you are. Call me stupid, if you will. Aelin, I’m sorry this was discussed in front of you as it’s rude but the truth is always best. You all may come examine the carvings for yourself if you wish. I hardly expect you to take our word for it.”

With a sigh Ursüs leans over and rests his head on Aelin. “What happened doesn’t matter any more. It’s the past. I have moved on and so should all of you, now that the danger has passed.”

Hel lowers her head slightly as her ears droop. “You really have grown, haven’t you? My only regret was not being there to see it.” She quickly clears her throat and rights herself before continuing, loosing the sharpness that is typical of her. “Aelin, how did you meet Ulver? Were you in the White River Pack too?”

Amundur and Hel slowly make their way down to the couple, appearing a bit reserved but tails wag lightly all the same.

Hel smiles softly to Aelin as she sits in front of her. “After you left you say? The chances of you two meeting were slim then. You are polite, a bit reserved, but I don’t sense any malice in you. Welcome to the family, and thank you for being here with our son. He appears to be far better off than he has been in a very long time.”

Amundar leans forwards and whispers to Aelin (not knowing she’s deaf, but he does so in a way his lips can be read) “Please look after him, sometimes he’s too stubborn for his own good.”

*Chuckling* I heard that, Aelin. (to Aelin only. He may not have heard Aelin but he knows what his father said for sure)


Amundar right's himself and nods to Aelin with a smirk in kind. "With that having been gotten out of the way, Alein, have you questions for us?"

"Ok, feel free to stay as long as you wish and know you are welcome any time. Follow me if you would, the both of you. I have something to show you." Amundar says as he nods to Hel whom says her goodbyes and heads back up.

Ursus nods to Aelin and walks at a pace that she is easily at his side, as the follow his father. After walking for quite some time they come upon a stretch of land full of young plants. "Do you recognize where we are, Ulver? As a small pup you came out here and planted acorns from the mighty oaks that would fall, so as to keep the trees alive and remembered and for food for the deer and elk and aalllll the other animals that feed upon them. I remember growling at you for wasting your time. War is what you were supposed to be training for. Or so I thought. I was wrong. WE were wrong. This place... It's not the same. It's safer here. All the destruction we faced was sowed by us so it's only fair we had to reap it too. Your leaving us made things very clear. Things went down hill, fast. WE are rebounding though. We will always value the capacity to defend those you love but we see it's not all there is to life. I hope that same kindness you had in you when you were younger is still there, despite our efforts to snuff it."


Ursus stands there silently for a moment as he looks out over the field. "None of this is as I remember. You all have changed. I don't really know how to react to all this, I feel joy, but there is so much confusion." Ursus walks around, examining the plant's closely. "I see they have wilted a bit. You need to dig ditches for the water to collect in. Not too close to the roots. And rotate out what types of plants you use if you have a patch die out or the soil dies." Ursus then turns to Aelin and cocks his head to the side. "Aelin, do you think we could uses these practices with the plants back home? I had begun to labor under the impression it was foolish but... It looks like its working."

Ursüs licks Aelin’s muzzle. “I think you could be right. Would you care to join me on doing this when we get home? Also, what’s the strangest practice you’ve seen a pack hold? I remember seeing one that regularly licked mushrooms to “show them the way” and claimed they were never lost because of it. They were never lost because they never had a destination and they were too intoxicated be worried.”

"Thank you~ You're the best! And races sound fun... I'd loose but I know many of us are quick and light on the feet, we may have to have a race some time then! We could offer a prize.... Hm. I'll have to put some thought into this! Maybe we could set a whole day aside for fun and silliness every now and then."

Ursus nods and smiles. "It's settled then!" Ursus doesn't break eye contact just yet, he then tells her telepathically I also feel no need to look around for treachery here. Do you think we are safe from them? Nod for we should look, tap my paw for no, please.
